TikTok Google partnership
Young people are using TikTok and Instagram to search more than they use search engines.
Which must be a worry for Google. But it seems that TikTok and Google may partner up. TikTok is currently experimenting with adding Google search to search results on the platform.
Spotted by Twitter user Radu Oncescu, TikTok has confirmed that it’s one such tool they are working on.
But what’s in it for TikTok?
Facebook Multi-Profiles are here
When you run a business you want to talk with your business friends and post about your business life. But your other friends probably get bored of seeing this stuff.
The same goes for workplace activity. Maybe you don’t want your workmates to know about what you do for fun, but feel you can’t ignore their friend requests.
Or maybe you are asked to manage the work Facebook account and you don’t want your regular Facebook attached.
Now you will be able to have separate profiles for each instance. One for your friends, one for your business friends, one for your workmates, one for your family.
You’ll be able to add up to 4 profiles to your account and switch between them without logging out.
LinkedIn gets accessible
Consuming content isn’t easy for everyone. Particularly text content. Some people might be sight impaired, some may be dyslexic, and some didn’t learn to read or find it hard to concentrate.
For years these people have been ignored which is bad for you as a content creator, you could be losing customers because people struggle to read your content, and for those with disabilities who are excluded from your stuff.
This week LinkedIn released an update for long-form written content on the platform.
Called ‘Immersive reader’, it opens newsletters and articles in a distraction-free interface where you can listen to the article or change your preferences to suit your own learning style.
That means more people can consume your content and that means more awareness and possibly sales.

Gen X are big on TikTok
If you’re not using TikTok for business because you think your audience is too old for it, think again.
According to research published by agency Wavemaker, 28% of TikTok users are Gen X (that’s me) That’s a big chunk of people who are apparently being under-served by creators on the platform.
So if your target market is between 45 & 60 it could be time to rethink your activity there.
Meta AI Chatbots
Meta is about to unleash AI chatbots across Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. These new chatbot assistants are similar to Chat GPT and designed to help you answer questions.
Unlike Chat GPT it will give you real-time information and, with the assistance of Microsoft bing, help you search the internet. It will also create images.
Alongside this, you’ll be able to talk to Chatbot avatars based on celebrities like Mr Beast.
There’s a new VR headset from Meta but it’s not just VR, it’s ‘mixed reality’ which means you will be able to go into a VR world or ‘augment’ your existing environment.
The AR mode will allow you to add virtual objects and widgets to your real-life workspace.
Just like widgets on your computer or phone, you will be able to interact with your virtual device to quickly access what you need.
This would be cool if you didn’t have to wear a giant headset all day.
Delete threads without deleting Instagram
One of the reasons people don’t join Threads is the worry that if they don’t like it, they can’t delete their account without deleting Instagram.
But that is set to change. According to Meta, by December you’ll be able to delete your account independently of Instagram.
This may mean some people leave the platform for good but it could also mean people will sign up knowing it’s not a lifetime commitment.
