Instagram algorithm updates
Smaller Instagram accounts will get more reach with new updates coming to the algorithm.
Previously accounts with large followers and accounts that re-post content have grabbed all the reach but that’s about to change.
The algorithm will work by showing content to a small audience who should enjoy it. Then, depending on engagement, it will show it to a wider and wider audience.
Another update will reward original content and when it finds a duplicate it will always promote the original.
Meta AI Ad Glitch
Several marketers have reported issues with Meta’s AI Advantage Plus campaigns.
The glitch seems to have started on Valentine’s Day, suddenly pushing CPM costs way above industry levels.
Ads are also spending above limits on the account. Meta denies there is an issue.
Advantage Plus campaigns can be valuable for e-commerce, but if you’re running them, monitor them closely with your finger hovering over the pause button. Or go back to manual ad creation.

TikTok shop fees on the rise
When TikTok first sought to attract businesses to use their shopping tool fees were as low as 2%, now they are 6% and set to rise to 8%.
On top of that, the cost of ads are rising.
Is this the beginning of the end of TikTok sales magic?
Will businesses adapt or will we start to see larger businesses replacing the smaller ones as costs rise?
Is this even relevant anymore with the US ban looming?

Dynamic product ads on Reddit
According to Reddit, each month, an average of 40% of new conversations are related to purchase decisions and product categories.
So it makes sense for it to push shopping ads. Dynamic product ads will combine your product catalogue with machine learning to offer auto-ad creation and auto-targeting.
Could retailers start running to Reddit with escalating costs elsewhere?

Auto archiving of Threads posts
What is the advantage of deleting your social media history as a business?
Could it be so you don’t have people trying to claim old offers that the algorithm throws up?
Or maybe people get confused by out-of-date trend jacking.
Or maybe you just want to be in the moment?
Whatever the reason it seems you’ll soon be able to auto-archive your threads posts after a set time has elapsed.
The feature is currently being tested.
I’m interested to see how businesses use it.

Choose your Instagram Reel trailer
Showing an attention-grabbing clip from a video is a great way to get people to watch the whole thing. But until now, when you share a Reel to your story it was always the first 15 seconds that showed.
Users are reporting the option to choose a 15-second clip from anywhere in your Reel to reel people in (excuse the pun).

Emojis with sound
Both Messenger and the Google Phone App are experimenting with audio emojis. When activated they make a sound representation of the emoji you choose.
Could it be that more people now use apps with the sound on?
If so with this, voice messaging, and audio chats, could it be the beginning of a new era of online communication?
