Amanda peers through a spy glass. The words read 'Google Search Queries in GA4'

Can you see what search terms people use to find your website in Google Analytics 4?

Yes! But you need to do a bit of configuration first.

Discovering how people find your site will show you how well your SEO is performing, plus, it will give you new keyword ideas.

Yes, you can use Search Console for this. But let’s face it, Search Console is *even more scary* than GA4.

Instead of wading through all those Search Console menus and reports you can connect it to your Google Analytics and see everything in one place.

There are two steps to this process to add Search Console data to Google Analytics 4:

1. Connect Search Console and Google Analytics

2. Add the Search Console widget to your report sidebar

Let’s walk through that step by step:

1. Connect Search Console to Google Analytics 4

Step 1: From your Analytics home screen click ‘Admin’ at the bottom left-hand side of the screen

Step 2: Scroll down until you see ‘Product Links’ on the right-hand side.

Click on ‘Search Console links’

Step 3: Click on the blue ‘Link’ button at the top right of the screen

Step 4: On the next screen click ‘Choose account’ to add your search console account

Step 5: Choose a web stream (most people just have one web stream and that’s their website)

Step 6: Click ‘Review and Submit’

That’s the first stage complete. The sites are connected. But if you want to see search terms in your Google Analytics you need to add Search Console to your reporting sidebar

2. Add the Search Console widget to your report sidebar

Step 1: From your analytics home screen click the reports tab. It’s the icon that looks like a bar chart.

Step 2: Click on ‘library’ at the bottom of the reports menu

Step 3: At the top of the library window you’ll find ‘Collections’. Click the arrow buttons and scroll through until you see a collection called ‘Search Console.

Step 4: Click the three dots at the top right of the collection and select ‘Publish’ from the drop-down menu.

Refresh the page and you’ll see ‘Search console’ has appeared in the sidebar.

Click on this to find search terms people use to find your site.
