Short-form video hits LinkedIn
Does short-form video belong on LinkedIn?
Maybe it does, in fact, it’s already there with many creators reposting their videos from other platforms.
LinkedIn also seems to think it belongs. It’s running a small beta test for iOS users, replacing the ‘network’ tab with a video tab.
There you’ll be able to view full-screen vertical short videos much like you do on TikTok.
Instagram carousel commenting
Carousels are hot on Instagram. They tend to get more reach than static posts and are more engaging as people scroll through the slides.
Now Instagram is testing the option for users to comment on a specific slide in the carousel.
By adding the slide number (eg @2) to your comment it will be attached to the single image mentioned.
Which is cool…

LinkedIn Dynamic UTM Parameters
How do you know which ad campaign is delivering the best results? How do you know which version of your creative is best?
UTM tracking connects your ad accounts to your Google Analytics so you can see how they are performing alongside other marketing channels.
LinkedIn has just added dynamic UTM parameters that will auto-populate your tracking links depending on which ad people see.
As someone who is on a mission to get the world to use UTM links I’m very excited about this update.

Threads in the Fediverse
Reach more people and collate your followers. That’s what the Fediverse promises
Some Threads users in the US, Canada and Japan can now share their posts to the Fediverse.
This means posts will be shared from Threads to other platforms like Mastodon.
Engagement from all the platforms on the Fediverse will be aggregated on the post wherever it lives and people on other networks will be able to engage in the same way they can with original posts there.
What is the Fediverse? It is a federation of sites. Much like email, you will have one social profile that can post to all social networks. People will follow your profile rather than your account on an individual network.
It takes a bit of time to get your head around it but it could soon be second nature to us.

New YouTube Retention Stats
Comparing different types of people who view your content will give you a deeper insight into what works.
YouTube just added some new features to your video retention reports that can help you see whether people return for more and whether subscribers or non-subscribers see your content.
You can compare subscribers to non-subscribers and previous viewers to new viewers on an individual video level.
What can you do with this? If you have a type of video that drives non-subscribers ask for a follow. If you have returning visitors ask them to grab a lead magnet or subscribe to your newsletter.

LinkedIn rolls out company messaging
Being able to communicate directly with a business is important. Yet sending messages to business pages hasn’t been a thing on LinkedIn.
There has been a slow roll out of company page messaging, but now, finally, all business pages are getting it.
This means people will be able to message pages, and admins will be able to respond. It will also connect to many CRM systems enabling customer service teams to streamline the process.

When is the best time to post on YouTube?
No matter the social network people want to know the best time to post. The answer is almost always an unsatisfying ‘It depends’.
But YouTube has issued some guidance to users. Suggesting that when posting time-sensitive content, post immediately; for evergreen content, post whenever you want.
For Live videos, align with audience availability for maximum reach.
But don’t worry if you get it wrong. Posting during “off hours” may initially slow view growth, but views usually balance out over time.
