Appointments on Instagram
Instagram is great for retail businesses but how can you get more sales as a service-based business?
A new feature called ‘Appointments’ could help. When you are in your direct messages, click on the + button next to the reply field and select ‘Appointments’, here you can create an appointment with the person you are messaging.
Direct messages are a great way to get more leads, this is a handy addition.
Twitter on Meta
Twitter users are desperately seeking a new place to hang out and Meta wants them.
It’s working on a new app, connected directly to your Instagram account that will in many ways mimic Twitter. You’ll log in with your Instagram details and your handle will remain the same but the service will be more conversational, more text-based and allow posts of up to 500 characters.
Are people ready to put another social media egg in the Meta basket? I guess we’re about to find out.

Meta Lead Forms Get Pimped
Lead gen forms in Meta Ads have come into their own since the Apple iOS privacy update. They can deliver great leads and email subs at a much lower cost than website conversions.
Now they’re getting an upgrade. You’ll be able to ask questions that will update the form depending on the answer the user gives. For example, you could ask your respondent to select a product they are interested and the form will update to display relevant questions depending on their answer.
A second update can overlay a lead form on your website when viewed via the Facebook browser. That way you get a website view and a lead.

Did your video views drop?
Have you been watching your analytics? And specifically your video analytics?
Video is great for personal branding and awareness, it’s also great for search. You’ll often see video clips at the top of search results on Google. It’s a great way to attract traffic to your business and website.
But for almost 2 weeks in May, a Google bug caused a drop in video traffic. So if you saw a sudden decline in video traffic and views between the 4th and 17th of May, it was probably Google’s fault.

2-Hour videos on Twitter
In the age of Netflix, we’re used to streaming our entertainment but only in shortish segments. This week Twitter upped the length limit for videos posted on the platform by Twitter Verified users from 1 hour to 2.
This could be as a bid to court the likes of axed Fox host Tucker Carlson to broadcast. And if you think you couldn’t sit through a 2-hour show, Twitter also added speed controls to videos. That means a 2 hour-long video could be consumed much faster.
We know Musk wants to make Twitter the WeChat of the world, is this a step in that direction?

Video view counts get the Twitter axe
On Twitter, we can see the exact number of views each Tweet receives. An incentive to pay to get more? But now it looks like Twitter is removing the video view count from videos on the platform.
You can still see your own metrics in analytics but video views are only currently displaying on Android.
Does this matter? Twitter is adding lots of new video features right now, maybe they don’t want to show that videos aren’t doing well on the platform.
I for one am happy to hide public view counts, it stops us chasing views and helps us focus on delivering quality content for our ideal customers.

Share your screen on WhatsApp
WhatsApp is fast becoming a business communication tool. A new update could make it much easier to show customers way more than just you during calls.
It’s rumoured that the platform is working on a ‘screen-share’ feature that will allow users to display their phone screen during the call.
As a trainer I can see this will be hugely useful, it could also be a great way for event planners and artists to discuss visual options with clients.
