Native video meetings on LinkedIn
LinkedIn is all about connecting with people and deepening those relationships. Now you can create an online video meeting natively within chat.
Previously you were able to connect to a third-party tool and schedule a meeting, now it can all be done on LinkedIn.
This will make it easier to develop your business relationships and even book sales calls.
But should you keep all this on the same platform? Just like Facebook and Instagram, LinkedIn is attempting to fence off their piece of the internet, leaving you at the mercy of their rules and algorithms.
Google targeted ads will no longer work for under 18s
If your target market is under 18, it’s going to be harder to reach them with ads.
Google just made some updates that will block ad targeting based on age, gender, or interests of people under 18. Which seems fair.
Younger people are online more due to home-schooling and online activities. We need to keep them safe.
They’ve also added some additional safety features for younger users, including the ability to request the removal of images of themselves from Google search. Which would be a good feature for us all.
Twitter Spaces hands up feature
Since Fleets has been removed more people are seeing and participating in Twitter spaces. So it’s no surprise that Twitter is innovating.
Now, when you are added as a speaker you’ll find a new reaction icon. The ‘raise hand’ emoji will stay on screen until you remove it, it will let other speakers and the host know you have something to add.
This will make it easier for speakers to add their comments and give hosts a way to see who wants to speak next.
Remove Twitter followers without blocking
Does your Twitter follower list look dodgy? Could the people who follow you have a negative impact on your brand?
Until now, if you wanted to stop someone from following you, you’d have to block and unblock them. But Twitter is about to make this process easier.
Soon you’ll have the option to ‘Remove this follower’, a shorter way to get rid of the people you don’t want.
Ads in the Instagram shop tab
As shops become more popular on Instagram it is becoming harder to get your products seen.
And for Instagram, the popularity of the shopping tab means there’s a new place to put ads.
And that’s what is happening. Soon you’ll be able to pay to get your product on the front page of that tab. This will be particularly useful for businesses in the run-up to the Christmas season.
Instagram Audio Tab In Explore
Instagram Explore is getting a new search tab. Next to Top, Accounts, Tags, and Places you’ll soon see a ‘Audio’ tab.
This will help people find music and audio clips, see Reels that feature that audio, and favourite tracks so you can easily use them in Reels later.
This could be good for trend jacking Reels, but only if the track you choose is available to business users.
Instagram lists
One of the benefits of Twitter lists is that you can filter your feed to see tweets just from the people on the list.
It’s a great way to ensure you are nurturing relationships. For a long time, we’ve been wishing for a similar feature on Instagram. Could it be about to happen?
Instagram is working on a list feature, at the moment it’s unclear if you will be able to filter your feed with it. At the moment it appears you can only mute stories and posts from people on the list.
