Will you join me in my challenge? The Blogcentric podcast shares my stories and ideas as I strive to make my blog a better blog. I’m challenging myself and I’m challenging you to improve your blog one week at a time.
There’s been something that has been bugging me for a long time. It’s a guilty secret of sorts. There’s a post on my website that is currently responsible for 25% of my traffic and it’s a bad post.
It’s not written badly, the graphics aren’t too bad but it’s still utter rubbish. The problem is that the information contained within is bad. I’ve known for a while that the info is bad but I’ve been clinging on to the post as it drives traffic. Today, the day I post my first podcast is the day I decide if I should delete it or just update it.
Find out which option I choose and why by listening in below:

Also in this Podcast I discuss the first three challenges to improve your blog:
- Rewrite or delete any bad posts
- Update out of date content – do this one bit at a time. I’m starting with my posts on Facebook ads
- Delete any posts that talk review tools or products that don’t exist anymore. I’m starting with my posts on Facebook ads
Do you accept the challenge?
Here’s the post I’m rewriting, hopefully by the time you click it it will be updated.
Here’s the category I’m working on cleaning up
If you are joining me in this challenge leave me your links in the comments below.
Tune in next week Thursday to see how I did and accept a new challenge.
Well done, I’ve been meaning to start a podcast for yonks too. I do update blog posts occasionally but more so when I notice something has gone out of date e.g. if someone leaves a comment or I get a surge of traffic and think I’d better double check the post. I have to admit ‘winter cleaning’ is something I should do. Something strange happened to my farming blog with the new website too, there are random questions marks throughout some posts so that’s a job for another day too! Some ‘winter cleaning’ by the fire some afternoon I think.
What else would you be doing in this weather than sitting by the fire updating your blog 😉
Weird about the ?, I wonder where they came from!
I’ll join you. As it happens I’ve been putting off doing a needed declutter and update on the blog. I’ll use this as the motivation. My challenge is to list the older posts that no longer fit into the food choices we make now and a list of the older posts that need new photos and update the text as I write measurements etc different to how I did when I started. Sorry a bit rushed, but I’m accepted the challenge so I’ll get it done do up a proper challenge next week.
Delighted your going to come with me Marion 🙂 Looking forward to seeing your improvements 🙂
Darn, a bit behind doing this, with study. Got started on it this week (ok 2 weeks out). So glad I bit the bullet. Still working on them. The articles do take some time. Now though I’ve a lot of Christmassy recipes that can go up on my social media now. I’d forgotten about them. It’ll give me time to add the new recipes for this year up. Great idea, delighted you set the challenge, it’s proving very useful to me.
Good to hear, hopefully you’ll get lots of traffic from your Chistmassy posts 🙂
