Android follows Apple to stop tracking
The update to Apple iOS last year was trouble for Facebook and Facebook advertisers. It meant fewer targeting options and less accurate reporting. Facebook is beginning to recover but it could soon be hit with something similar from Android.
Google is already phasing out third-party cookie tracking on Chrome but now they are working on removing some tracking including advertising tracking from Android apps in the next 2 years.
Although this is similar to the Apple update it won’t be quite as restrictive. They are developing an alternative system. As Google also relies on ad revenue we can be sure this won’t be as devastating for advertisers as the iOS update.

Facebook renames the newsfeed
Could the fact that the Facebook home page is called ‘News Feed’ be confusing for users? Do they think that what they see there is actual news?
And could that be why Facebook gets blamed for misinformation? This week Facebook rebranded the ‘News feed’ as just the ‘Feed’.
At the same time, I got the option to choose my feed between, ‘Your feed’ ‘favourites’ and ‘Recent’
There’s a lot of rebranding at Facebook at the moment, will any of it make a difference? Will anyone even notice this subtle change?
Now you can Like Insta stories
The problem with Instagram stories, as well as the plus side is that whenever someone sent a ‘reaction’ it turned up in your inbox as a message. That means lots of annoying notifications and a cluttered inbox.
Instagram just announced that soon you’ll be able to like a story with a heart, instead of it going to the inbox it will appear in the engagement stats for the story, just like poll votes do
Sign contracts in Zoom
Zoom has become the default way we conduct meetings. But what if those meetings are sales meetings? What if you go through all the complexities of a sale but then have to send emails to get the contract signed?
A new app from Docusign that you can add to Zoom will now allow you to get contracts signed during the call. That means faster closing, questions can be answered immediately and fewer emails back and forth.

TikTok’s infinite Marketing Loop
You’ve heard of marketing funnels, and you may have heard of marketing hubs and wheels. There’s a new marketing shape in town and it’s called the ‘Loop’. Designed by TikTok this is a way of reimagining the customer journey.
Quite rightly TikTok points out that the funnel is too linear, people fall in and out of the funnel. The loop illustrates there are many places someone can join your marketing process, working in a loop means you retain them after the initial sale.
Phases of the loop include Discovery, consideration, review and participation.
And it’s that participation that is brand new. They say: ”When our community connects and creates together, they present real brand opportunities, drive massive engagement, help products sell out and lead brands to success.:
