One thing I love about the Web Summit is the peripheral entertainment. Last year there was a giant robot and a Tweet Cafe from the ESB.
Part of me was hoping for the return of the Tweet Cafe, I really enjoyed tweeting for my coffee but I also knew that the ESB were bound to have something even more quirky this year, I wasn’t disappointed.
Instead of tweeting for your coffee this year you have to Vine for it. Create a six second video using the mobile Vine app and you get free coffee and the chance to win a trip away.
Of course I joined in, you can view my attempt at the bottom of this post, I don’t think it’s a winner but I enjoyed making it all the same.
What really works well is what the ESB did with the Vines, the backdrop to the Vine cafe was a giant live Vine wall showing all the videos tagged with #ESBVineCafe, the effect was enchanting as you can see.
No robot this year but there is a 3D printer in action, printing Halloween charms thanks to Mason Hayes & Curren.
And here’s my Vine, entitled ‘Graveyard of empty coffee cups’
More on the Web Summit later on.
