How to leverage your best blog posts
How to leverage your best blog posts

Last week’s podcast was a bit of a downer. We looked for the worst stuff on our blogs and challenged ourselves to make some of those posts better. I thought we’d flip it this week and look at how we can get the most from our best content. The content that people love to read and love to share.

I was rifling through my Google Analytics last week for a post I was writing for the AgoraPulse blog and I noticed something about the top content on my site.

I’m used to seeing some posts appearing at the top of my view count. There’s the one I talked about last week that brings me 25% of the traffic to my site (now updated). There’s a couple on how to add maps to your Facebook page and one on how to post a Facebook post to Twitter.

What surprised me was that some new posts had made it into the top 10 and that’s what sparked this week’s episode.

Listen to find out how to leverage the top content on your blog:

If you are joining in, this week’s challenges are:

  1. Use your analytics program to discover the top 10 blog posts on your site for traffic. Add the title and link to an excel spreadsheet (you can download my template here or create your own)
  2. Visit the BuzzSumo website and discover the top 5 shared posts on your site.  Add these to your excel spreadsheet.
  3. Create two variations of your blog title for each post listed above and add them to your spreadsheet
  4. Check the quality of these posts and add them to your social media posting schedule.

I use Co-Schedule to schedule old blog posts into the future, but there are lots of other scheduling tools available.
