Is it worthwhile using Facebook advertising for your target market? Are they even on Facebook? If they are how much should you budget for your Facebook ad?
This weeks cool tool Social Stats helps you decide on a budget and a target market, it’s quick and easy to use and there’s even a mobile version.
Here’s how it works:
Visit the Social Stats page on the Social Ads Tool website.
Choose the country you want to target with your ads
If you scroll down to the bottom of the page you will see that this instantly gives you some demographics on that country. In this example you can see that of the 2,400,000 Facebook users based in Ireland just over 53% are female, 30% are between 26 & 35 and out of those that choose to share their education around 14.5% are university graduates.
To get a better idea of your target size you have the option of choosing an age group, gender and specific interest. As you can see I’ve chosen to target people between the ages of 30 and 50 with an interest in small business.
Social Stats processes this information and gives me an estimate of the audience size, how many are Male or Female and what eduction level, if any, they fit into. It also provides some information on the budget you should consider for the campaign.
This is a very handy quick tool for working out the size of your audience. More importantly the budget option gives you a better idea of whether you are spending enough on your campaign. It is limited, you can’t target by city, marital status or any of the other more intricate metrics that Facebook ads offer but it does give you a good rough idea.
