I mentioned this tool in last weeks blog post on finding people to follow on Twitter. I have become a big fan of it recently as it requires no registration and is dead simple to use. Twtrland integrates withboth Twitter and Instagram and looks like it will be a really handy tool.
Here’s how it works
You can search Twitter users without signing up yourself by typing a search parameter into the box on the screen.
If you want to sign up and see some stats on your own profile you can sign in with your Twitter or Instagram account
By doing this Twtrland creates a profile page for you including some stats on how conversational you are and how often you RT. It even uses your tweets to gauge your skills.
You can view this profile information about any user, it’s a quick and easy way to see if an account is conversational before you follow.
To use Twtrland to find new and interesting people to follow type a search term into the search bar at the top. It recommends searching by skill, location or name. If you search by skill it will search users who it has guessed fit into this skills set.
I searched for people living close to me in Athy but the skills search is also a good way to connect with good people. Very handy is you want to target a specific segment of your target market. For example a sports shop may wish to follow people with a keen interest in soccer or GAA.
When Twtrland returns it’s search results you can click through to see more about individual users or you can refine your search a little more to include how active they are on Twitter, age and gender.
To follow someone, click their profile picture to bring you to their profile page and click ‘follow’ underneath their username.
I instantly found some local tweeters that until now I had been unaware of. I’m looking forward to getting to know more local tweeters.
This is a really useful app that can help you follow the right people on Twitter. I can see me dipping in every now and then to find new people of interest or people that fit into specific segments of my target market.
Have you used any apps to help you find people to follow? If so do share your suggestions in the comments.
