When you set up a pure business account via Facebook, or when you migrate a profile page to a Facebook business page you will notice that there is no search bar at the top of the page,  you will also notice that you are unable to Like other business pages or comment on their posts.  This can be frustrating but it’s easy to fix.

By adding an admin and accessing the page via the admin you will be able to get full functionality, the search bar will re-appear and you can Like and comment on pages.  Watch the video to see how to add an admin.

If you enjoy reading my blog please nominate it for the Social Media Examiner Top 10 Social Media Blogs.  Last year I reached the finals but I’ve been working hard all year long to make it better.  I would be over the moon to make it in to the top 1o this year.  To reach the judging stage I need to get a lot of nominations so please nominate www.spiderworking.com/blog by visiting this post and leaving a comment including the link and why you think I should win.

Excellent article on Facebook for Business and search functionality. I will re-tweet this posting on your behalf.

But then the problem with this is when you add the admin, it reverts back to your personal page. Then when you are uploading pictures to the business page, they get reverted to the personal page. That is the problem I am having.

Click on the settings icon at the top right corner of the page (looks like a wheel) and change user from your personal page to your business page. Then you can perform functions as your business.

I have made my wife(personal FB) a Admin manager but still are unable to leave comments or see the search bar.

When I look at my Admin roles page my profile photo isn’t in the box, just a outline of a head in a grey box.

On my page I can answer comments but when I leave a comment on another business page the person doesn’t see it.
It is driving me bonkers…If you can help,it will be brilliant.
I have emailed FB and they just sent a generic email stating they can’t help every bug enquiry.
    Regards,
    Andy

You need to log in via a personal profile page that is an admin on your biz account for this to work.

I have tried to add myself as admin after liking my business page but it won’t allow me saying …

We weren’t able to add all your new admins. You can only add your friends or people who already like this Page.

And have you liked the page? I know it sounds silly to ask! I did have someone else with a similar problem recently and I can only think it’s a Facebook glitch. You could try contacting them via this form: https://www.facebook.com/help/contact/164405897002583

Yes I did. I also tried adding myself from my icon where I had liked it. Very frustrating. Thanks for the form, I’ll try that!
